Example Ad Layouts / Quick Setup Files
There are a myriad of possibilites for ad and widget placement in HeatMap Theme.
To get you started the following HeatMap Theme layouts are available as ‘Quick Setup’ files in the Downloads section of the v5 Members Area. They make great starting points for your own HeatMap Theme explorations.
You can also create your own Quick Setup files containing your options setups using the HMT Import/Export plugin which is also available in the Downloads section of the v5 Members Area.
Blog (slim)
Slimmer blog style to concentrate visitor attention in a narrow column.
Features:
- SEO Text Feature above header used to make sure that the home page has a H1 tag assigned.
- Highly visible large banner ad above the content area.
- Link unit in the Categories navigation bar which blends nicely with the real site navigation which sits above the Link Unit.
- Button ads set in the sidebar to the right of the posts in a traditional blog layout.
- Large ad unit set below the posts to catch visitor who read the post all way through.
This layout is available as a Quick Setup File in the HeatMap Pro v5 Downloads Area.
Blog (regular)
Designed to be kind to visitors while at the same time monetizing key areas of the blog.
Features:
- Sidebar is pushed left to put the top sidebar ad into the ‘hot zone’.
Highly visible banner ad just below the header. - Link unit in the pages navigation bar which blends nicely with the real site navigation which sits below the Link Unit
- Large ad Unit directly beneath the featured page and also below each post, gives maximum ad exposure for visitors who read to the end of posts.
This layout is available as a Quick Setup File in the HeatMap Pro v5 Downloads Area.
Authority Review Blog
Use when the focus is on reviews with a little adsense as icing on the cake.
Features:
- Buttons beneath posts allowing visitors to visit the affiliate site directly or read more about the post. Featured images also link to affiliate site.
Highly visible banner ad just below the header. - Highly visible large banner ad above the content area.
- Large ad Unit directly beneath the featured page and also below each post, gives maximum ad exposure for visitors who read to the end of posts.
- Button ads set in the sidebar to the right of the posts in a traditional blog layout.
This layout is available as a Quick Setup File in the HeatMap Pro v5 Downloads Area.
Niche Site Blog (slim)
A layout with a highly aggressive ads strategy.
Features:
- Highly visible large banner ad above the content area.
- Large ad unit placed right in the middle of posts (placed using the [HMT Ads] button in the HTML post editor)
- Button ads set in the sidebar to the left of the Skyscraper ad. If chosen carefully (or even replaced with ‘attractive’ images) they can potentially pull eyes across the skyscraper ad which sits next to it.
- Skyscraper ad preferably set as a text ad unit.

Niche Site Blog (regular)
A layout with a highly aggressive ads strategy.
Features:
- Two large ad units placed right at the top of the featured page and posts. If you set one of the ads as a text ad unit, and set the other as an image ad unit then this can potentially attract the visitors eyes for longer.
- Button ads set in the sidebar to the left of the Skyscraper ad. If chosen carefully (or even replaced with ‘attractive’ images) they can potentially pull eyes across the skyscraper ad which sits next to it.
- Skyscraper ad preferably set as a text ad unit.

Fixed Navigation Blog
The navigation bar at the top of the theme are non -scrolling.
Features:
- Fixed ads in the footer ensuring they are always in view.
- Button ads are highly visible stacked side by side beneath the header and above the footer.
Make sure you place Adsense ads only in the non-scrolling area in order to comply with the Adsense TOS.
Button ads have been chosen here as examples but of course you can use whatever sized ads you like.

Totally Blank Canvas
As the title says this Quick Setup turns off all features, so you have a completely blank canvas to work with.
This is great for creating squeeze pages and plain information pages.
