How to make Adsense niche sites mobile responsive

While you’ve been busily building Adsense niche sites over the last few years to bring in ongoing passive income a change has been taking place in how people use the internet. Its the ‘mobile revolution’, and everyday more and more people are using their smartphones to browse the web, and are using their desktop computers less and less.

This video tutorial explains the problem and how you can easily solve it using a mobile WordPress plugin and Click Missile Plugins.

Update 31/05/2013
** Note that since this post was created HeatMap AdAptive Theme has been released which mean that you can now have an ad optimized site that looks great on mobiles, tablets and desktops just using one theme.

What does this mean for your Adsense niche sites?

Most Adsense niche sites (unless designed recently) are not optimised or designed to take advantage of mobile visitors. This means that you are potentially missing out on revenue from 10% of the traffic. Then numbers of mobile visitors will only grow over time, so the time is right now to do something about it.

Does this mean that we have to redesign our niche sites?

No, actually we don’t. We only have to take care of how our sites are viewed on mobiles, and make sure we are presenting the right kind of ads in our content, tuned specifically for mobile devices. Fortunately its easy to retrofit existing sites with a couple of easy to use plugins so that they will still be good to go for years to come.

What do we need to retrofit our niche sites ready  for mobile visitors?

1. A Mobile WordPress Plugin

I like WPtouch Pro. There is also a free ‘lite’ version available too.

2. Click Missile Plugin

Click Missile allows you to inject the right sized ads directly into your mobile pages and posts.

How are these plugins installed?
