HeatMap WordPress Ads Theme version 3.x.x and 2.5.x  – Downloaded zip file installation

(See this post if you tried installing HeatMap Theme on an old version of WordPress)

New Installations

  1. Download the zip file.
  2. In your WordPress Admin page navigation (to the left of your dashboard) click on APPEARANCE.
  3. The MANAGE THEMES page will appear. Click on ADD NEW (next to the Manage Themes page heading).
  4. The INSTALL THEMES page will appear. Click on the Upload link (appears underneath the Install Themes heading).
  5. You will see Install a Theme in .zip format and a Browse button. Click on the Browse Button.
  6. Navigate to find the location of where you saved the theme zip file and select it.
  7. Click on the Install Now button.
  8. The theme will now be installed. Click on the ACTIVATE link to activate the theme.

Please note: The first time that you run HeatMap Theme it will start up in Preset Mode, however, you will probably want to turn off Preset Mode during normal operation.

Upgrading from a previous 3.x.x version

Before you can use the WordPress Theme installer to upgrade Heatmap theme you will need to rename the existing heatmaptheme folder on your web host to something else, either through your web host file manager, or by connecting with your web host via ftp. The heatmaptheme folder will be found in your WordPress installation folders under wp-content/themes. Always backup your database and files before upgrading.

Troubleshooting

If you see the following message:

Destination folder already exists
Theme Install Failed

This means that you already have a previous version of Heatmap Theme installed in a folder called heatmaptheme.  See upgrading notes as above.

Once you have renamed the folder you will be able to upload the zip file as per normal.
